We go through the screenshots Rockstar gave Game Informer one by one: Ambrosia's biker gang, Jason hunting, Lucia with a customised rifle, alligators in Grassrivers and details like sunburn.

Quick answer Rockstar gave Game Informer 12 new screenshots of GTA 6 for its cover story. We went through them one by one. The highlights: Ambrosia's biker gang inside and out, what looks like hunting, a Grassrivers full of wildlife, an orange grove and a lightning storm over the coast. There are also details we hadn't seen before, like sunburn and a wide range of body types.
Why the screenshots aren't shown here They are a Game Informer exclusive and carry its watermark. IGN doesn't publish them for that reason, and we don't copy them either. You can see them free in the Game Informer app, thanks to the deal with Rockstar, and on its site. The images in this story are official screenshots Rockstar has published on its own site, from the same areas.

The screenshots arrived with the cover story on 29 September. Many are chosen to show exactly what Rockstar describes in the text: the weather, the wildlife, the regions of the map. We've grouped them by what they show.

Ambrosia's biker gang

Two screenshots focus on the bikers. In the first, inside a bar with neon signs and a pool table, a bearded biker holds a woman. Two patches can be read on his vest: "SGT. AT ARMS", the rank of whoever enforces discipline in a motorcycle club, and "AMBROSIA". It fits the story, which describes Ambrosia as the industrial region with "a local biker gang calling the shots", as quoted by IGN.

The second is an action shot. Jason flees on a chopper, pistol in hand and face covered with a bandana, as several bikers run out of a bar decked with US bunting. According to IGN, the bar is called The Thirsty Wolf and the gang is the same one seen before.

IGN also points to the detail in the faces. The biker's face is sunburnt except where his sunglasses were, and the woman has freckles. Michael Kane, Rockstar's vice president of dynamic art, says in the story that the team "paid a crazy amount of attention" to making each community's tattoos culturally correct.

Hunting, weapons and customisation

In another screenshot, Jason rides a quad bike with a scoped rifle on his back, painted in an autumn camo, as two deer drink from a stream. Everything points to hunting. IGN treats it as an activity, but it doesn't appear in the story's activity lists published by other outlets, so for now it's a deduction. What Rockstar does confirm is Rare, Discoverable and Legendary animals you can track.

The other armed shot is Lucia: face covered with a bandana, holding an assault rifle with a suppressor, red-dot sight and foregrip, crouched behind a barrel while armed men wait by some pickups. It's the best look yet at how far weapons can be customised.

Grassrivers: alligators and birds

At least one screenshot is of Grassrivers, the game's Everglades. It is at night: two men on the dock of a stilt house, with alligators approaching through the water. Another, probably from the same area, is a sunrise over a wetland with a deer, a white crane, herons and flocks of birds in the sky. It's the picture that best illustrates the more than 170 species Rockstar promises.

The orange grove

It's the most understated screenshot and the one that says most about the level of detail. A light aircraft skims over a field and kicks up a cloud of dust while workers cover their faces. There's a water tower in the background and, in the foreground, a pickup reading "Tucker's Citrus Farms". A citrus farm, as Florida as the beaches, which Rockstar had no obligation to simulate.

Weather in action

A seaplane flies over the coast of the Keys towards a front of dark clouds with lightning, while the rest of the sky stays clear. It's exactly what Rockstar describes in the story: localised storms you can see coming from far away. We explain it in our weather story.
