The British magazine devotes issue 27 to GTA 6, with new images of the couple. Rockstar explains its leads and frames the story as a more modest American dream: a house and your loans paid off.
After Game Informer, another magazine. This time it isn't a games publication: LOVE is a British fashion and culture magazine, and it has published a feature with interviews with several of the game's writers and Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North (RockstarINTEL). The images are the magazine's exclusive, so we don't copy them: its own Instagram account shows them.
Who Jason and Lucia are, according to Rockstar
Elizabeth Galvey-Kern, one of the game's writers, explains how they approached the couple (RockstarINTEL):
"We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other. That's what we felt made them authentic, and a great team."
Of Lucia, Rockstar says she had to be someone who wanted a better life for herself and wouldn't let obstacles stop her. Jason comes across as a man whose circumstances end up making his decisions for him. That contrast is one of the keys to a story Rockstar still describes as a modern Bonnie and Clyde. The American dream, 2026 edition
Rupert Humphries, senior vice president of narrative, explains the game's backdrop. According to RockstarINTEL and Vandal, his point is that the American dream may be more modest now: a house for your family and your loans paid off, instead of wild success. And that Miami and southern Florida are a particular front line in that battle.
Humphries also explains why Leonida is an exaggerated version of reality:
"If you are going to put all this effort into creating a version of today's world, it has to be more over the top, more insane, more in your face. Otherwise, you could just go outside and live in the real world. There is a big focus on not just holding up a mirror, but on making everything satirical, larger than life, and more grotesque."
