The full official video with a block-by-block analysis: what appears in each stretch, the six map regions, the police redesign and every confirmed mechanic.
Rockstar's GTA VI videos are age-restricted on YouTube, so they can only be played there. The link opens the official video.
The 26 minutes of "An Extended Look" are densely packed. It's impossible to retain everything in one viewing, and many details pass in the background. We've organised the presentation into thematic blocks so you can jump to what interests you.
Block 1 — Opening: Leonida and the tone
- 00:00
Introducing the state
Opens with sweeping views of Leonida: the coast, Vice City in the distance and the contrast between beachfront luxury and run-down areas. Rockstar states the game's thesis up front: the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.
- 01:30
Jason and Lucia
First cinematic scenes of the couple. The relationship takes shape: they aren't partners of convenience, they depend on each other. The material makes clear the story turns on that dynamic.
- 03:00
The conspiracy
The plot structuring the campaign is hinted at: a criminal conspiracy spanning the whole state. It's the first time Rockstar gives the story shape beyond the premise.
Block 2 — The world: six regions
The presentation tours the map region by region, and here come the two surprises: Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, absent from all previous material.
- 04:30
Vice City
The metropolis. Ocean Drive, the financial district, residential neighbourhoods. Twice the area of Los Santos, but eleven times larger in built-up area — that figure explains the density on screen.
- 06:00
Leonida Keys
The southern keys: overseas highways, marinas, stilt houses. The natural setting for maritime smuggling.
- 07:15
Grassrivers
The swamps. Airboats, wildlife and isolated communities. The wildest area of the map.
- 08:30
Port Gellhorn
The other Florida: a decaying coastal town, motels, an underground economy. The social counterpoint to Vice City.
- 09:30
Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga
The two new regions. The name Mount Kalaga suggests elevation, which earlier material didn't hint at and changes how the map reads: Leonida isn't only flat and coastal.
Block 3 — The police system, redesigned
The most information-dense block of the presentation, and the one confirming much of what the leaks pointed to.
- 11:00
Six stars return
The wanted level regains its sixth star, absent since GTA IV. Response escalates with the severity of the crime, and the indicator shows icons for the specific offences drawing attention.
- 12:00
They only look for you if seen
A conceptual shift: police find out if someone witnesses the crime or a security system catches it. The automatic alert the series carried since GTA III is gone.
- 13:00
Identified by traits
Officers remember your appearance. Changing hairstyle defeats facial recognition, changing clothes makes you harder to identify, and a mask stops cameras recognising you.
- 14:00
Criminal Profile
Beyond the moment: the game keeps a cumulative record of your criminal behaviour across the playthrough.
Block 4 — Character, karma and combat
- 15:30
Eating and training
Diet and exercise affect the character's physique, as in San Andreas. The return of the most fondly remembered system from the 2004 entry.
- 16:30
The karma system
Confirmed and visible: positive karma for petting a dog, negative karma for Lucia fleeing a store robbery. It works both ways, in the style of Red Dead Redemption 2's honor.
- 17:30
Combat with weak points
Targeted aiming with slow-motion sequences highlighting enemy weak points. Red Dead's Dead Eye adapted to an urban pace.
- 18:30
Layered car theft
Approaching a vehicle brings up options: smash the window or use a slim jim. Available methods depend on the tools you carry and your progression.
Block 5 — The world reacts
- 20:00
Pedestrians with judgement
NPCs are far more varied and react realistically: walking around with a rifle doesn't land the same way in every neighbourhood.
- 21:00
Social media inside the game
NPCs livestream what's happening, and comments and reactions appear on screen. Consistent with the satire of viral Florida.
- 22:30
Open world activities
Car and bike racing on a track, airboats, jet skis, canoes, base jumping from skyscrapers, and both free and scuba diving.
Block 6 — Closing
- 24:30
Chapter structure
The campaign is organised in chapters, like RDR2. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, puts his own full playthrough at around 80 hours.
- 25:30
November 19
The presentation closes reaffirming the date. After the leak, many feared a delay: there isn't one.
How long is the GTA 6 Extended Look?
26 minutes. It's available free on Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website, as well as on Netflix.
What's the most important thing shown?
The police system redesign: six stars, appearance-based identification (hairstyle, clothing, masks against cameras) and a cumulative Criminal Profile. It's the deepest mechanical change in the presentation.
Is the video real gameplay?
Yes. Rockstar confirms all material, gameplay and cinematics, was captured entirely in-game running on a standard PlayStation 5.
Where can I watch the Extended Look in 4K?
On Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel. The company also published a direct 4K download from the official Grand Theft Auto VI website.
