This is the GTA 6 collector's box: 11 items for $399.99, with a photo of each, and no game

The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection packs Oakleys, a New Era cap, a Macca the Gator figure and a poster with the map of Leonida. Price, shipping, the one-per-person limit and the spoon wink.

GTA VI finally has a collector's edition, though not the one most people expected: it is a box of merchandise with no game inside. It is inspired by Macca the Gator, a cartoon show that exists inside the game's world, starring a gator and a manatee.

Rockstar describes it as adult collectibles: not a toy, 18+, with a warning about small parts and sharp edges.

The wink everyone noticed

Together, three pieces tell a joke Rockstar never spells out: a mirror that "works as a tray", a swizzle spoon and a razor blade keychain. It is the eighties cocaine kit, the era of the original Vice City and Scarface. Rockstar just says the mirror lets you "reflect on your life choices".

The spoon has a precedent too: in 2008 Rockstar gave out a gold one to promote The Ballad of Gay Tony, GTA IV's expansion. Those now resell for thousands of dollars, according to GamesRadar.

What about the map of Leonida?

Several headlines say Rockstar "revealed the official map". Not quite. What it confirmed is that the back of the poster carries the full map of Leonida, at around 36 × 26 inches. But the official poster photo only really shows the front, and nobody has seen the map yet. It will be seen when the first boxes arrive.

Price, shipping and conditions

If you are in Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America: the Rockstar Store does not ship it there. The official list covers only Europe, the US and Canada.

Is it worth it?

Depends what you want it for. As a game, no: it does not include one, and it costs five times the standard edition and four times the Ultimate. As a collectible, it gathers real-brand pieces (Oakley, New Era) and, if the 2008 spoon is any guide, Rockstar's limited runs tend to gain value.

Do not confuse it with the Vintage Vice City Pack, which is something else: the free in-game digital content for anyone who pre-orders.

Update · 28 September: four days on

• It is still on sale. Some outlets reported it sold out, but today the Rockstar Store still offers it for pre-order; we checked.
• A fan has recreated the Macca figure for 3D printing and sells the file for under $2 on Cults3D, with a crude message on the base about the box price and the lack of a disc.
• Some fans are unhappy with the contents: Kotaku summed it up as "we wanted Jason and Lucia, and we got an alligator".
• Ubisoft poked fun from the Rayman account, touting a $40 edition that does include the game:

Update, 29 September: in Australia, where the box costs around A$700, Press Start reports it sold out as soon as pre-orders opened. On Rockstar's official store, the listing was still available to pre-order on 29 September.

Update, 30 September: Rockstar has surprised several content creators with a merch package: a blue cap with a pink Rockstar logo, a "Welcome to Vice City" T-shirt, stickers, a GTA 6 tote bag and an engraved Zippo lighter (GTA BOOM). Many fans say they prefer it to the $399.99 box. For now, that merch isn't on sale.

No. Rockstar says so explicitly: the game is sold separately.
