It is not announced. Jérémy Hartvick, who worked on GTA 6 from 2017 to 2020, says GTA's audience buys the console it launches on and a Switch 2 version would be worse.

Quick answer It is not announced. GTA 6 launches only on PS5 and Xbox Series. A former Rockstar designer who worked on the game, Jérémy Hartvick, thinks a Switch 2 version "doesn't make sense": GTA's audience already buys the console it launches on, and on Switch 2 it would be a lesser version.

The question comes back every week, and this time louder because someone from inside has answered it. Eleven outlets picked up his words. Here is what there is.

What the former developer said

Jérémy Hartvick was an open-world designer at Rockstar and worked on GTA 6 from 2017 to 2020. In an interview with the Kiwi Talkz channel, reported by GamesRadar, he argues:

Note: it is an opinion. He left Rockstar in 2020 and does not speak for the company.

What Take-Two has said

Take-Two, Rockstar's owner, has said in general that it will support Switch 2 with games where it makes sense, and has already released other titles there. About GTA 6 specifically, it has said nothing.

The precedents

The series and Nintendo get along, with caveats: GTA V never came to Switch, neither original nor remastered. What has reached Nintendo hardware are specific entries, such as Chinatown Wars on Nintendo DS and the remastered GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas trilogy on the original Switch.
