Rockstar releases the last trailer before 19 November. What it shows, ten frames, the Justice song and why GTA 6 makes The Game Awards.
Rockstar's GTA VI videos are age-restricted on YouTube, so they can only be played there. The link opens the official video.
Rockstar premiered it at 2pm UK time on its YouTube channel, where it passed 11 million views in under seven hours. Eurogamer expects it to be the last trailer before 19 November.
The official synopsis
Rockstar's description reads: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America", in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida, and forced to rely on each other more than ever to make it out alive.
What it shows
- The Keys. The trailer opens with a welcome sign for the Keys, a part of the map that had barely been shown (Eurogamer).
- Jason's past. In the opening seconds he talks about how hard things have been since he left the army, not on good terms, according to GamesRadar. He has long hair for much of the video and, in one shot, wears a U.S. Army T-shirt.
- Lucia's ankle monitor. An intimate shower scene with Jason shows her wearing one, which points to her being on parole, says Eurogamer. Early on, Jason gets a reverse-charge call that, for the same outlet, could be Lucia calling from jail.
- Helicopters everywhere. One crashes behind Jason, Lucia rides another through the streets with a grenade launcher in hand and a third drags a chained load that smashes a building's windows. There is also a heist with a helicopter getaway that goes wrong and a jump from a rooftop into what looks like a hotel pool.
- Lucia's question: "Are we gonna be OK?"
- The familiar voice. At the end a narrator reads out the game's name, the date and the age rating, as in every series launch trailer since San Andreas, notes Kotaku. It is the TV-ad format.
- Captured on PS5, with PlayStation branding all over it, a sign of the marketing deal with Sony, according to Push Square.
Ten frames from the trailer
Taken from the official video Rockstar distributes on its website for sharing. We have left out the intimate scenes.

The music: Justice
The song is "Flower in a Hurricane", a new single by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar also confirms that the French duo composed the game's original score, the music that is not licensed songs by other artists (Push Square). More details on the score album are promised.
The track is part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, out on 19 November with 34 songs and already available to pre-save on streaming services. Rockstar has now released nine of them. They are all in our radio and music coverage.
The new official images
Alongside the trailer, Rockstar published a new artwork, "Jason and Lucia: Lock and Load", which opens this article and is the video thumbnail. It also debuted a screenshot on the music page: a floatplane over Grassrivers, the game's take on the Everglades, at sunset. According to RockstarINTEL, it belongs to Brian's Boat Works & Marina, Brian Heder's business.
Does it look worse?
Downgrade accusations were quick to arrive. Streamer Mehdi Vibes and several Reddit users say the trailer looks blurrier than the August presentation or the official screenshots, as HobbyConsolas reports. The same outlet points out that promotional screenshots are meant to show a game at its most attractive. We will know on 19 November.
What comes with the trailer
- It makes The Game Awards by one day. The show accepts games on sale by Friday 20 November at 9pm Pacific, according to its FAQ. GTA 6 launches on the 19th, so it can compete for Game of the Year; the show is on 10 December. What that means.
- Review copies before November. According to NateTheHate, a leaker with a good track record, Rockstar will send them out before the end of October (RockstarINTEL). Insider Gaming had already reported that reviews will go live before launch. Rockstar has confirmed neither.
