GTA 6's Extended Look premiered on 27 August on Netflix and can now be watched free on YouTube and Rockstar's site. How to watch it, how the premiere went by country and how many people watched.
Rockstar's GTA VI videos are age-restricted on YouTube, so they can only be played there. The link opens the official video.
How to watch it now
You don't need Netflix or to pay anything. The full video is in two official places:
- YouTube: on the Rockstar Games channel. It is age-restricted, so YouTube may ask you to sign in with an adult account.
- The GTA VI site: on the Extended Look page, on Rockstar's official site.
If you'd rather read before watching, there is our minute-by-minute breakdown and the 10 gameplay reveals.
How the premiere went
According to Rockstar's announcement, it launched at the same moment worldwide: first on Netflix and, six hours later, for everyone.
| Country | On Netflix (27 August) | Free, on YouTube |
|---|---|---|
| Spain (mainland) | 21:00 | 03:00 (on the 28th) |
| Mexico | 13:00 | 19:00 |
| Colombia and Peru | 14:00 | 20:00 |
| Chile | 15:00 | 21:00 |
| Argentina | 16:00 | 22:00 |
| US | 3pm ET / 12pm PT | 9pm ET / 6pm PT |
It was the first time a studio premiered a gameplay showcase on Netflix. We explain why in why Rockstar chose Netflix.
How many people watched
- Netflix: 31.1 million views between 27 and 30 August, and number one on its English-language film list in 87 of the 93 countries it tracks, according to Variety.
- YouTube: more than 17 million views on 1 September, and about 29.6 million on 29 September, on Rockstar's channel alone.
- Third-party streams: almost 4 million concurrent viewers on premiere night. We covered it in this story.
The numbers can't be added up: Netflix counts a view as hours watched divided by runtime, while YouTube counts every play that starts.
What it is and isn't
It isn't a GTA film or series: it's a long video of the game, captured on a PS5. Nor is it playable on Netflix. More information has come since, such as Game Informer's cover story on 29 September.
